2014-09-12 A beautiful display of Northern Lights lasted only a few minutes between sundown and moonrise. You can see the moonrise in the last 2 pictures. These were shot near Brackely Beach on PEI’s North Shore.

2014-09-05 I’ve heard about the Balloon Fiesta in Sussex, NB a few times and saw some amazing photos. Having flown in such a balloon I know that weather conditions have to be perfect in order to fly…as in almost no wind. At the Fiesta, flights are either 6:30 AM or 5:30 PM. We drove from PEI to Sussex on Thursday in hopes we could see a flight that evening. It was a bit windy but we hoped it would drop enough before sunset. We waited until 7pm when they finally announced it was still too windy to fly. So a 1 hour drive back to Moncton for the night, and a 05:30 AM departure for Sussex again the next morning.
The wait was worth it, as we were rewarded with a view of over 25 balloons filling the sky.

2014-07-25 The 2014 National HOG Rally was held in Kingston, ON. This album contains photos of events at that Rally and other scenic shots.
2014-07-21 Following the 2014 Atlantic HOG Rally in Saint John, a group of about 30 HOG members met up in Bangor Maine to begin the ride to the National HOG Rally in Kingston, ON.

2014-04-24 During our 2014 trip to the Island of Sint Maarten in April we saw a lot of familiar scenes. (see photoset for SXM_2013) However, this year we also took in a tour of the nearby island of St. Barts.

2014-03-29 Last week we spent 8 days visiting the island of Kauai, HI.
While the weather on the North Shore wasn’t that great (cloudy/damp), we did manage to get some good photos with my new Nikon D610. On the South side, as predicted, it was sunny and clear, which allowed for much better photos on those outings.

2014-03-11 After much research and thought, I decided to upgrade my gear ‘to the next level’. That meant a new Full-Frame camera body and some new FX lenses. As with many things involving technology, the ‘law of diminishing returns’ has a significant effect. The better your gear is, the more expensive it becomes to move to the next level.
For Landscape work, I felt it was worth it, and the time was right.
So this set has some of my first selected shots with the new D610. I was able to use my existing 70-300m long zoom to complement the new 24-120mm F4 lens.
